Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
The law protects the confidential nature of the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without the client's written authorization.
There are specific exceptions to this law that include:
- Suspected child abuse or elder/dependent adult abuse, for which I am required by law to file a report immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- When a client threatens serious bodily harm to another identified person or material damage to the property of others, I must notify the police and inform the intended victim/s.

When a client threatens to harm himself or herself, I endeavor to ensure the client's safety; when a client is unable or unwilling to contract to remain safe, I must initiate an involuntary hospitalization as mandated by law.
